Too much information - Duran Duran

Don't get me wrong, as I love BBC sport BUT why do we need all these so called 'experts' to comment on the game. All of this endless analysis and figures by retired players gets on my nerves. We never needed this in the old days with David Coleman and Barry Davies... Now we can't even get thru the first half of the rugby without Jonathan Davies or Jerry Guscott chipping their two peneth in.

Save the licence fee and get some commentators that can do their jobs properly. Don't even get me started on the Athletics and all the extras that get shipped in for that. The 2012 Olympics will be a nightmare... Mark my words.

Song for Guy - Elton John

I am not surprised that good old Elton has given the Lip-Synchers a bit of a bashing today. Folk who are seen to be leaders in their fields of expertise should be able to turn on the tap and make things happen when required.

In short there is substitute for talent and hard work... Son George knows that with his band... there's no room for faking it there!

Take my world of fitness... It's always surprising when products and medical procedures are said to make you thinner... when in reality diet and exercise counts for all. Especially this week as I am going to try a Gluten Free week to see what difference it makes to how I feel in my training. No bread, pasta etc... hmm we'll see eh?

Pilgrims Challenge on Sunday for my birthday and a family day tomorrow to celebrate... nice...

Sailing - Rod Stewart

Note to self...

NEVER EVER EVER EVER GO ON A FERRY ACROSS THE IRISH SEA IN FEBRUARY!

What were we thinking... it was just a shocking experience... especially with ' We are going to sink Girl' as a companion. Her Meerkat stance at every large wave and crash was very amusing but it was a shame to see her so worried. As it was worrying I can tell you when the crew surrounded a loose lifeboat to secure  it back to its fittings!

Right now as we approach Birkenhead I am wondering if our brand new Chevrolet is still on the roof, where we left it. Hmm, yes it was mildly worrying to leave it there... I hope they strapped it to the floor?

Anyway...With it being impossible to do anything except feel sick for the last few hours, I must say I am looking forward to a good sleep tonight back at ULTRArace HQ and hopefully my sea legs won't be tested as much in September when we return with the Sleeper Bus on M2M Ultra.

Now where's 'We are going to sink Girl' gone as I have to tell her to take her life jacket off... Leo and Kate eat your heart out!

Ferry Cross the Mersey - Gerry and the Pacemakers

We are extremely happy today as we have taken delivery of a Chevrolet Captiva courtesy of our great friend Stanley Edgar of SERE Motors in Belfast. It looks B R I L L I A N T even on a rainy day in February and will bring colour and another level of brand awareness and quality to our events.

The 4.30am start, trip to East Midlands Airport and ridiculous security systems were no worries to us today or the hair-raising landing into a very strong cross wind as we were on Mission Captiva!

The 9bar and ULTRArace logos look superb... let's hope the 8hr ferry to Liverpool will be better tomorrow eh?

Who cares though as we will be going home in style... More tomorrow.

We are the Champions - Queen

Well I thought it was time to get a shot of the '9bar UK ULTRArace Championship T-Shirt' in the blog and I thought Jenny would be a better model than I would! Seeing the T-Shirt has made me realise just how much work we have put in during the last 12 months to make it all happen and I have a bit of a proud feeling today.

That and the warmer weather has definitely got me going again today as yesterday's sub zero start never really got me off the blocks and my Power Hour on the Treadmill certainly lacked Power!

So it's time to consider some last minute training for the weekend and the second day of The Pilgrim Challenge... should be a good day out and it's time I did a long run to refocus...

Belfast beckons tomorrow... more then...

Ordinary World - Duran Duran

Is it me or do the Duran Duran boys have different hair follicles to mine? They must as mine is getting greyer and thinner and Simon Le Bon's is getting stronger and browner! I must say that at 50+ the Duranies are looking exceptionally good and looking back over the last 30 years have made some great music... was Planet Earth really 1981...

In 30 years time will be saying the same about Rihanna... I hope not as her records just plague me wherever I go it seems... talk about talentless!

So in 2041, I will be looking closely at an 80+ year old Simon Le Bon, will he still have those flowing locks?... will I have any hair left?... who knows. I'm 49 this weekend and still thinking 'Rio' was No 1 only yesterday... not 1983!

My how time's change...

More tomorrow!

Shopping - Pet Shop Boys

Well we finally got the racking up and Jenny is busy stock-taking ready for the website launch of http://www.ultrastore.co.uk/ next month. It's made a huge difference to our office and looks very professional... a good job too as we are in full MdeS Kit season right now.

There was one casualty today when Jenny's iPhone took a spin around the washing machine and I for one will be amazed if it survives this intact especially as it went down the loo last year!

It's been a good day though and the lighter nights are helping to make me feel that Spring is on the way... a 7am run tomorrow will help get the week off with a bang. It's getting busy!

More tomorrow...
